We are counting down the days for our trip to South Africa and Namibia. We leave 2 weeks from today and of course are very excited. We will miss our traveling companion, Julie, but hope to keep her posted on this blog as we travel. I have been reading up on Namibia and can’t wait to experience all the geography and culture it has to offer. We extended our Namibia visit with a few days at Leopard Hills Safari Camp in South Africa. We hope to see the Rhino that we did not see on our 2022 trip to Botswana. We think our preparation is mostly complete- a little scary this far out, but I’m sure some panic buying will yet be done. Trying to take advantage of our sweet corn harvest in our community garden plot. Last year when we went to France in September, we missed the best of this delicious harvest. We think we have timed it better this year. We have made pesto from our large basil and garlic harvest twice already this year, and hope to make one more batch. See above for a photo.
Our trips in 2024 have included New Orleans for Julie’s destination birthday, 2 trips to Florida for music festivals, a wonderful land and sea tour of Alaska and a New York City and Block Island get-away for Emma and Mitch’s wedding. We are wrapping up in style with this African adventure. Having refreshed my recollection on how to write a blog, I’m one step closer to ready to go.
